The Ultimate Guide: Setting Up Your New Nebula PC

The most exciting moment has finally arrived! Your gaming PC is here, and you’re ready to set it up. But you hesitate. You know that inside the box is extremely delicate, high-performance hardware that must be handled with care. What if you break it? What if it won’t start once it’s out of the box?

Modern gaming systems with powerful GPUs are heavy and come with delicate, precision-tuned components. These require careful handling and setup. But the good news is that every PC from Nebula PC has undergone rigorous testing and is secured before it leaves our facility.

So whether you’re getting the DRIFT or the IMPERIUM FROST, you’ll find this guide helpful to ensure a smooth, safe, and flawless setup.

Step 1: The Safe Unboxing & Internal Foam Removal (Crucial)

The first step is handling the PC safely out of the box. Inside the best gaming PC from Nebula PC is precision hardware that needs safe and steady handling.

Handling the Glass

Place the shipping box on a steady surface before opening. You need to slide the system out of the box rather than lifting it vertically. A steady surface greatly reduces the risk of dropping the tempered glass side panel and creating an impact that can damage the components.

The Instapak Foam

Once the PC is out, you’ll immediately notice that there is expanding Instapak foam around every crevice of the system. This foam is carefully placed inside to support the heavy graphics cards and keep them from moving or sagging during shipment.

The Golden Rule

Never power on the PC while there is foam inside. You need to remove this first. Do it by unscrewing and removing the glass side panel and extracting the foam by gently pulling it out. As you pull, don’t snag the cables or place pressure on the graphics card. Once all the foam is out, place the glass side panel back.

Step 2: The Setup: Plugging Everything In Correctly

Pay attention to this step, as this is the most common mistake that first-time PC builders make when setting up their systems.

The Monitor Mistake (Most Important)

PCs have two video ports: the mother board I/O port located vertically near the top of the unit, and a dedicated graphics card port found horizontally near the bottom. Plug the monitor into the GPU port and not the motherboard. If you make a mistake plugging it into the motherboard port, your system will bypass the graphics card and rely solely on integrated graphics. This can ruin your gaming performance.

Power Connections

The power cable must be securely connected to a wall socket or a high-quality surge protector. Once connected, check the power supply unit or PSU switch at the back. Make sure it is in the “I” position which means it is ON. This is another common mistake that causes panic.

Peripherals

To create a clean and efficient setup, plug the mouse and keyboard into the rear USB ports of the motherboard. This frees the front I/O ports for quick-access devices such as external drives, headsets, or USB sticks.

Step 3: First Boot & Essential Software Setup

It’s time for the best part: pressing the power button for the first time and seeing your custom pre-built gaming PC come to life.

Windows Ready Out of the Box

Every Nebula PC arrives with Windows 11 Home pre-installed and fully activated. There’s no need to install an operating system or use product keys. Your PC is ready to use straight out of the box, so you can focus on setup rather than technical steps.

Run Windows Updates First

Once you’re on the desktop, run Windows updates first to ensure your system has the latest security patches, performance improvements, and hardware optimisations required for seamless operation.

Install GPU Drivers

After the Windows update, install your NVIDIA GeForce drivers. Whether you’re on RTX 5070 or a flagship RTX 5090, the latest drivers will unlock your components’ full potential and ensure they are compatible with new game titles. These steps ensure your GPU is fully optimised so you can start gaming with confidence.

Long-Term Maintenance: Keeping Your Rig Running Like New

Keeping your Nebula PC performing at peak levels is not simply about setup but about using simple, regular maintenance that protects its performance and longevity.

Location is Everything

Do not place your PC on a carpet as this blocks the power supply intake fan, affecting airflow. This also causes high temperatures and allows dust to build up. It’s best to place it on a desk or on a stand to ensure you’re not restricting airflow.

The Dusting Routine

Give your system a proper clean every 3 to 6 months to keep airflow clear. Use compressed air or an electric air duster to remove dust that accumulates on fans, heatsinks, and filters. Always hold the fan when cleaning it. If the blades spin freely from air pressure, they can generate a reverse voltage and static electricity that can damage sensitive components.

Software Hygiene

Digital maintenance is also important. Keep your system running smoothly by uninstalling unused games and apps. Keep storage lean to maintain fast loading times and ensure responsiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions

I turned the PC on, the fans are spinning, but my monitor says "No Signal". What's wrong?

Most of the time, the display cable is plugged into the motherboard instead of the graphics card. Move the HDMI or DisplayPort cable down to the horizontal ports on the GPU to remove this error.

Does opening the glass side panel to remove the foam or clean dust void my Nebula PC warranty?

No. You are required to open the case and remove the shipping foam. We also encourage routine dusting. Simply handle the internal components with care.

I bought the Imperium Max. Why does my RTX 5090 look like it's sagging slightly?

Massive next-gen GPUs are heavy. If your system didn't include a built-in anti-sag bracket, we recommend installing a small GPU support stand to take the weight off the PCIe slot.

Welcome to the Nebula PC Family

Setting up your ready-to-ship PC should be an exciting experience, not a stressful one. By following these simple setup and maintenance steps, your rig will deliver maximum frames for years to come.
